Guy and Dolls

Oh my goodness did I ever have a fantastic weekend! Dad, Mom, Grandma Pam, and I had some really BIG adventures in the Windy City! We left Friday morning and got back today mid-afternoon. I could write a book, but I will hold myself back. Here are the Cliffs Notes:

- Friday morning, rode the train for the very first time. I loved looking out the window and trying to walk down the aisle while it was moving.
- Went to our hotel which was just a block from Watertower Place. I have always liked staying in hotels, and this one was no exception.
- Went to American Girl Place to see all of the dolls! We had a very special dinner there with Baby, Pretty Baby (my Just Like You American Girl doll), and Church Baby (my American Girl Bitty Baby). The Cafe was beautiful, the meal was good, and the experience was priceless. I also got lots of cool doll stuff!
- Saturday morning, went to see Dora Live: Search For the City of Lost Toys at the Chicago theatre. The theatre was very pretty, and the show was AMAZING! I was completely absorbed in the action. I sang, danced, and waved my star. This may have been my favorite part of the trip, although if you ask me what I liked most I say "Everything!"
- Went to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. We spent a long time there looking at all of the animals and jungle-like decor. Very cool place.
- Walked back to the hotel stopping in places like the Disney Store, the Hershey Store, Tiffany & Co., and more along the way.
- Visited the John Hancock Building Obsevatory. It was very cool to see how small the cars were, look at the rooftop pools, and take in the city in general.
- Ate a nice dinner at our hotel and stayed in Saturday night. All of the grown-ups were pooped out!!!

Besides all of this, we also had a few wild cab rides, awful weather as we were leaving this morning, and came dangerously close to missing our train back, but who cares...... it was all a BLAST! I am especially glad that Grandma went with us. Mommy thinks one of the best parts of the trip was watching me walk down Michigan Ave. hand-in-hand with Grandma, perma-grin on my face, and discovering that I am quite the little "city girl". Also, all of us girls want to thank Daddy for going and being such a good sport as we did all of our girly stuff. He was such a willing and welcome participant. Be sure to ask me about the trip next time you see me. I have SO many stories to tell.

I'll Take Another Order of Sunshine Please

Who played outside all weekend? I DID! I DID! I am loving the approach of spring as I am sure everyone else is also. On Saturday I spent the day at Aunt Nancy's house while Mommy went scrapbooking. I was worn out that night. We always have such fun together. Yesterday Mom and I went outside after lunch for the whole afternoon. We picked up lots of sticks in the yard to start preparing for the mowing season. We also played soccer and baseball, went for a wagon ride, and I played with one of our new barn cats. He has just started coming out when we are outside. I named him Caddy. Isn't he cute Papa? We chased each other around the yard for a good couple of hours. Last night we went to Grandma Pam's for pizza and ice cream.....can't beat that combo. Not sure who was more pooped out last night, me or Mom. BTW, the bandage on my face is covering up an ouchie I got from falling out of my bed on Friday. Mom didn't want any dirt to get in it.

My buddy Logan and his family could use everyone's support right now. He has been in the hospital since Thursday with unexplained high fevers...over 105 at times. All they have been told at this point is that it is probably something viral. You can check out his website at www.caringbridge.org/visit/logannobis. Please feel free to leave words of encouragement for the family by signing the guestbook (you do have to enter your e-mail address to do this) and/or remember the family in your prayers. It has been a very long week for Libby, Chris, Logan, and his little sister Lakin. It is very comforting for them to know that they have people praying for them.

Great Grandma's Big Party

On Friday my Great Grandma turned 90!!!! What a special day. She had an open house and then treated all of her family to dinner that night....Leo's, YUMO! Lucas (Daddy's cousin Wendy's son) brought his saxaphone and played for us. He looked so comfortable and did a great job! His sister Lauren had fun entertaining all of us littler ones. We don't see them often, so it was a treat. Almost all of Great Grandma's family was able to be there. We were so glad to be able to share in her celebration. I had particular fun with all of my "extended" cousins. Not many people get to celeberate 90, and certainly not in the fun, vibrant, energetic way that she was able to. What an amazing lady! I have had a cold, but am feeling much better now. Have a great week everyone.

Just Living Life

I have had quite an eventful couple of weeks. Last weekend Kira and Geordan came for the weekend. Mom and Kira spent a special day together, so Geordan and I got to go to Grandma Bonnie's. We did lots of fun stuff including going to see Hotel For Dogs. I always love seeing my cousins!

One funny thing I did this week..........Saturday Mom and I were putting some things away in the attic, and I spotted my portable swing from when I was a baby. I asked Mom if we could get it out so my baby could swing it. I pushed Baby for a while, then when Mom stepped outside to take the trash out I hurried and sat in the seat myself. By the time she got back inside I was sound asleep swinging away. What's so funny you ask? There were no batteries in the swing; I sat in the perfect position to create a pendulum that kept me swinging sleep and sound for over two hours. And Mom thought I was done with naps. Ha!

Mom was a little under the weather last week so I got to spend lots of time with Daddy and my grandparents. Thanks for taking care of me everybody while Mom was out of commission. This week we are laying low for the most part.
